Today we’re bringing you a look at current construction of the Disney Skyliner turn at Disney’s Boardwalk Resort.
As you can see, a lot has changed since the last time we visited.
Almost all of the siding is in place and the mechanisms and such all seem to have been installed at this point.
Seeing as this is in the parking lot of the Boardwalk, it would have been nice to see it themed in some way.
This turn will take Skyliner route down Buena Vista Drive traveling from Epcot, and vice versa if you’re going the other way obviously. The Buena Vista Drive route has stations at Disney’s Riviera Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, and Pop Century/Art of Animation Resorts. Service to Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be available from the Caribbean Beach Resort station.
No opening date has been announced for the Disney Skyliner as of yet, but it is expected to open sometime in 2019.
Tom, thanks, any update on the AC units being absent in these things? I can’t fathom them without AC. What a mess. And who will get to ride? Would they close summer due to heat/lightning either way?
There’s fewer and fewer attractions at WDW, if one doesn’t want to spend a lot of money for stuff of decreasing quality, can one just ride in these sweat boxes in the sky for free? Resort guests only?
They would close in summer only if the weather conditions are severe enough that all of WDW outdoors needs to be closed and evacuated. Orlando has only had severe enough weather to do that 6 times in the resort’s 45 year history, so we’re looking at a closure every 7 years or so for a day or 2. Buses would not be able to operate in conditions that require the gondolas to close so its kind of a moot point.
Keep up the magical work Disney! I can’t wait for my next visit in 2021 – the big anniversary year! Everything should be in place by then and running smoothly! Go Disney!!
This is a joke post right? They haven’t been running well for almost a decade. All about cutbacks and profit. If standing in a long line and paying more for less is running smoothly, you won’t be disappointed.
