‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ Cut Mickey Mouse Joke Revealed
Disney released the official script for “Deadpool and Wolverine” and Variety discovered it still features the line cut from the final film. It was after Deadpool learns that Magneto is already dead.
He was originally scripted to say, “F*CK! What we can’t even afford one more X-Man? Disney is so cheap. I can barely breathe with all this Mickey Mouse c**k in my throat.”
“Deadpool and Wolverine” director Shawn Levy previously told Entertainment Weekly that he would take the line to his grave.
There was only one line in the entire movie that we were asked to change. We have made a pact, Ryan and I, to go to our grave with that line, but I will say that it was replaced with an equally dirty line of dialogue about Pinocchio shoving his face up Deadpool’s ass and starting to lie like crazy. I was like, ‘Ryan, that’s your replacement line in response to, ‘Can we clean it up?’ That’s Ryan Reynolds for you, audacious to the very edge.
“Deadpool and Wolverine” was the first “Deadpool” film made after Disney purchased Fox and it was full of fourth wall breaks regarding the acquisition. The film marked Deadpool officially joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and was the franchise’s first R rating. It ultimately became the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time.
Coinciding with the film’s release, Deadpool and Wolverine began regular appearances at Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure for “Story Time with Deadpool,” in which the characters retell classic Disney stories. For the holidays, they are retelling holiday stories in “The Story Time with Deadpool Holiday Special.”
“Deadpool and Wolverine” is now on Disney+.
