Facade Work Begins on New Disney Vacation Club Lounge Coming to Magic Kingdom

Facade work has begun on the new Disney Vacation Club lounge taking over the former Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade space at Magic Kingdom, dubbed McKim’s Mile House.

The Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade, a Magic Kingdom opening day attraction, closed permanently on June 23, 2024 to make way for the Disney Vacation Club Member Lounge.

Construction walls have been in place around the site of the former attraction since the day after its closing and the Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade sign was removed not long after.

During our recent visit to Magic Kingdom, we noticed while onboard the Liberty Square Riverboat that some new windows with black frames had been installed on the future lounge’s facade.

Yellow sheathing from DensGlass has also gone up on the right side of the structure. This area was previously where the props of the attraction were located and will likely be the interior of the new lounge.

The existing light poles remain untouched behind the construction walls. Large brown boxes and ladders are also present behind the walls. It would appear that work on the new Disney Vacation Club member lounge is happening during park hours, we spotted a crew member actively working at the site.

Disney Vacation Club released details last month for the new lounge including its name, opening time frame, and the concept art shown above.

Disney previously said the space will offer “a cozy and convenient retreat for Members to share stories and recharge during their day of fun.” Guests can enjoy “the rustic charm of a space inspired by the adventurous spirit of exploration from a bygone era.”

The name Disney Vacation Club McKim’s Mile House — A Member Lounge is inspired by Disney Legend Sam McKim, who joined Disney in 1954 following layoffs at Fox. McKim’s Mile House is scheduled to open by the summer of 2025.
