Construction has begun on the second story of Disney Lakeshore Lodge at Walt Disney World.
Disney Lakeshore Lodge Construction
Cranes are lined up along the shores of Bay Lake, next to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. Several concrete columns are visible between trees. Steel frames connect the columns.
Further along, large black walls are visible.
Around the corner, a ceiling/floor has been installed atop some of the columns. This is where we saw the most crew members working when we passed by on Tuesday.
The second floor is surrounded by temporary safety railings. Some steelwork has gone up on the second floor. The nearby crane was reaching down to the building.
The second floor is also visible from the land of Disney’s Fort Wilderness. Groups of steel poles create short unfinished columns. Crew members were gathered around a group of steel poles that they were probably preparing to install.
Disney Lakeshore Lodge replaces Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge, a new Disney Vacation Club resort announced in 2018. Disney demolished the former water park River Country to make space for Reflections near Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. Construction had barely begun on Reflections when COVID-19 hit the U.S., forcing shutdowns and delays.
Reflections was thought to be canceled but in 2023, Disney filed for new and extended construction permits. Construction resumed in November 2024 before Disney officially announced the new name for the resort. We don’t know how much of the planned Reflections theming will be used for Disney Lakeshore Lodge. It will be “inspired by the majesty of nature and its enduring influence on Disney artists.” Check out the original concept art for Reflections room designs inspired by “Bambi,” “Brother Bear,” “Fox and the Hound,” and “Pocahontas.”
