The National Weather Service has issued a Cold Weather Advisory for the Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort areas for Thursday morning.
The Cold Weather Advisory is in effect from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. EST on Thursday, January 9, 2025. It is for Lake, Volusia, Seminole, Orange, Osceola, Brevard, Okeechobee, Indian River, and Saint Lucie counties. Universal Orlando Resort is located in Orange County. Walt Disney World Resort is located in Orange and Osceola counties.
The National Weather Service predicts cold wind chills with freezing temperatures as low as 25 to 30 degrees Fahrenheit.
The advisory warns residents and guests:
Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and unfrozen water. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.
Though the advisory is only for the early morning, Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park is closed through at least Thursday, as is Universal Volcano Bay, due to the cold weather. Other outdoor attractions and experiences could be affected by adverse weather. Check each resort’s respective app for up-to-date wait times and showtimes.
Thursday morning marks the first race of the 2025 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend. Runners should check their emails for any potential race updates from runDisney, including start time and course changes.
