A new hardcover book titled “The Happiest Place on Earth: The Incredible Story of Walt Disney’s Disneyland” celebrates the 70th anniversary of Disneyland and is now available for preorder on Amazon.
“The Happiest Place On Earth” Book – $60
The book is written by Dan Hahn and Christopher Merritt, with the foreword by Disney CEO Bob Iger. Hahn produced the classic Disney animated film “Beauty and the Beast” and has also written several other books. Merritt has over 25 years of experience as a Disney Imagineer, designing and creating theme park attractions and environments for Disney parks around the world.
The book’s description reads, “On the 70th anniversary of Disneyland, a look back at the theme park that started it all — an illustrated history of Walt’s first theme park! The ultimate coffee table book for Disney collectors and armchair travelers alike, brimming with more than 750 images, previously unpublished documents, and concept drawings.”
The book is organized in sections based on the five original lands of Disneyland, which include Main Street U.S.A., Adventureland, Frontierland, Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland. The book includes details about “lost lands” and offers a look into the atmosphere of the park in the 1950s and 1960s.
Other details include a “rare look into the renowned vault of the Walt Disney Imagineering Art Library,” as well as recently discovered artwork.
The book is dubbed “a true must-have for Disney fans everywhere.” It is available for preorder now and will be released on July 15, 2025, just two days before the official 70th anniversary of Disneyland on July 17.
