Crème de Brie en Petit Pain: Warm Creamy Brie in a House-made Bread Bowl – $7.75
I usually don’t order Brie, but this was rather enjoyable. The cheese wasn’t too sharp or pungent, which makes it more acceptable. The bread was nice and soft, a perfect pairing for the creme. It also takes a cute picture thanks to the artwork on the bread and the napkin set up.
Dariole de Saumon à la Provencale, Sauce Beurre Blanc, Fleuron: Salmon Terrine with Zucchini and Tomato, Beurre Blanc Sauce, Puff Pastry Fleuron – $10.00
Another winner. At any other booth this would be our favorite, here it’s our 3rd place winner. Needless to say, this is a big step up from the salmon “cat food” rillettes of last year. The pastry is soft, buttery, and flaky, a perfect match for the salmon and vegetable mix.
Moelleux Aux Chocolats Valrhona: Molten Chocolate Cake with Pure Origin Valrhona Chocolates – $6.75
We were excited for this before we even got to the event and it lived up to the hype. A decadent, chocolatey masterpiece. The chocolate cake is filled with a hot center of Pure Origin Valrhona Chocolate, which may not sound unlike a lava cake you’ve had somewhere else, but I bet this is better than most of not all competitors. It’s beautifully plated, well sized, and an absolute must if you are going to the festival.
Frosé: Frozen Côtes de Provence Rosé Wine with Grey Goose Vodka and Peach Purée – $12.50
Another absolutely stellar addition to the festival line-up. A staple of France’s festival booths across the board is their frozen drinks, and this is no exception. Expect an upfront peach flavor that isn’t overpowering but adds to the light and airy nature of the frozen beverage. Pick up one for each hand.
Crémant de Bourgogne Veuve d’Ambal Expression: French Sparkling Burgundy Wine ($18/bottle) – $10.50
This is just OK. It’s not the best sparkling wine, but it’s nice to see a Burgundy as a change of pace from the normal whites. It pairs nicely with the chocolate cake, in fairness.
Alsace, Riesling Reserve Willm ($13/bottle) – $9.50
A sweet white wine that will outdo most similar offerings in the park. We would order this again if we are in the mood for a Riesling.
Bordeaux, Château Prignac, Medoc, 2014 ($13/bottle) – $8.00
Its good to see a true French Bordeaux available. It’s robust and full, but didn’t overpower the food.
