Rise of the Resistance is currently closed for routine refurbishment, and we noticed the exterior walls got a fresh coat of paint.
Rise of the Resistance Refurbishment Progress

After a brief period in which Cast Members were seen performing maintenance work in view of guests, themed construction walls were installed and the decorative turret atop the entrance was wrapped in brown scrim.

These panels were seen in their original form just a few days ago. They appear to have been recently repainted solid gray. We don’t know if this is the final appearance or if this is just a primer coat that will receive additional details and texturing.

Crews have been working not only on the attraction’s annual refurbishment, but also replacing certain external elements with a “new theme” that will correspond with Batuu West’s transition to the original Star Wars trilogy timeline. We do not know if these thematic changes to the ride will only be external or if work is being done inside the attraction as well.
Rise of the Resistance has been closed since January 20, 2026, and there is still no reopening date on the calendar on Disneyland’s website.

However, the Disneyland calendar indicates Oga’s Cantina, which is also currently closed for retheming work, will reopen on Saturday, March 14, 2026 following a nearly two-month closure. Rise may reopen around that time or in April at the latest to be ready for the Disneyland After Dark Star Wars Nite events.

Disney said the timeline shift will officially go into effect on April 29 but that guests might see updates before that date.
