Aerial Photos Show First Supports Installed in Massive Foundation for ‘Monsters, Inc.’ Door Vault Coaster in Walt Disney World

A fresh batch of aerial photos from bioreconstruct reveals more of Monstropolis’ E ticket attraction taking shape in the form of a sprawling concrete foundation studded with tall support structures.

‘Monsters, Inc.’ Coaster Components Being Readied Backstage

Construction vehicles, flatbed trucks, and more support pillars are lined up and ready backstage at the Monstropolis site.

Coaster components include these black support pillars and what appear to be sections of the track. The Monsters, Inc. coaster will be Disney’s first-ever suspended coaster and vertical lift coaster.

This part of the construction staging area is visible from the Skyliner, as these angles show, so guests on the gondolas can actually check out the coaster parts from the air.

Coaster installation began just two days ago, and here’s an aerial perspective of those same five black support columns on the gigantic foundation for the ride overall. No additional structures have been installed yet.

The columns sit on a mostly rectangular concrete pad with little else immediately surrounding them.

The other pads on the massive foundation are being prepped for more concrete and are studded with conduits, rebar, and bolts for more coaster track supports.

Here’s a full view of the Monstropolis foundation showing the current layout and the comparative scale of the installed support pillars.

A massive concrete boom pump truck, with its four outriggers extended, is positioned at the bottom of the above image. A sign that more concrete will soon be placed into the rebar mesh area.

Workers traverse wooden boards laid across the metal mesh, although we can also see them walking and working directly on the grids.

Here are close-ups of the areas in which workers are installing the electrical conduits and track footers amid the rebar.

As bioreconstruct notes, the sandy area to the left will eventually be the loading station. He also says to zoom in and look for the workers to get a true perspective of the structure’s scale.

‘Monsters, Inc.’ Door Vault Coaster

Based on the door vault scene from the first film, the Monsters, Inc. coaster will be located at the end of Monstropolis, which is currently being constructed on the site of the former Muppets Courtyard.

The model for the coaster, including the track layout, was revealed at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in 2024. We can already see this taking shape, even with the components still in pieces and the foundation in its current state.
