With all of the iconic crossbeams finally removed from the roof of the Great Ceremonial House, it seems work has begun in earnest on the extensive refurbishment of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Just today, the Monorail station closed ahead of additional work to be done on the resort’s facade.
The queue was still set up earlier this morning, however it is closed to guests.
Details on transportation options for the resort have been updated on the Disney Resort Hotels “Know Before You Go” landing page:
Transportation
- Bus transportation is available from this Disney Resort hotel to EPCOT, Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the Disney Springs area; bus transportation will be available to Magic Kingdom park beginning November 2, 2020
- Water taxis are not available from this Disney Resort hotel to Magic Kingdom park
- Walkway to the Transportation and Ticket Center will remain open, where Guests may access the monorail and ferry boats to Magic Kingdom park
- Monorail transportation is not available for EPCOT
We checked by the dock and as stated, boats to the Magic Kingdom are not operating at this time. (The sign now erroneously directs guests to seek out Monorail transportation.) Guests have the option to take a bus or walk over to the Transportation and Ticket Center to catch a monorail or ferry to the park.
The resort, now slated for a full Summer 2021 reopening, is currently open with limited operations for guests staying at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows.
Do you know where they are going to send the furniture from the rooms for resale? They have been sending them to thrift shops.
