Amid the new State of Emergency declared in Tokyo and the surrounding area, the Oriental Land Company is taking a few drastic steps to help lower infections without closing Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. This includes further adjusting business hours and halting ticket sales, among other measures.

The biggest change is that Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea will drastically cut capacity to 5,000 daily Guests, according to NHK (in Japanese). While exact capacity for the parks has never been disclosed, this is likely to be even less than the parks’ original 15% capacity back in July. The parks were estimated to be running at around 60-65% capacity as of late.

In order to prepare for this, the Oriental Land Company has entirely suspended ticket sales to adjust their sales platform. As of the afternoon of January 8th, all ticket types on the Tokyo Disney Resort App were listed as “not on sale”. The Oriental Land Company stated that all Guests who have already purchased tickets before January 8th will be able to visit Tokyo Disneyland or Tokyo DisneySea. OLC will post a notice when tickets resume sales.

Previously moved back from 9pm to 8pm, the Oriental Land Company will also close Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea at 7pm from January 12th through February 7th.

Also, the upcoming The Happy Fair with Baymax event at Tokyo Disneyland has been further postponed until further notice. Originally, the event was set to begin next Wednesday, January 13th.

Tokyo alone has reported new case numbers in the low-mid 2000s for two straight days now, according to NHK. There are no plans to close Tokyo Disneyland or Tokyo DisneySea at present.
