Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is undergoing a complete refurbishment which will include South Seas patterns and colors, Moana-themed rooms, and a new enhanced entryway that will debut just in time for the resort hotel’s 50th anniversary.

Recently, we saw the roof of the Monorail station and the platform were completely removed to make way for the new structure elements which we saw going vertical today.

Here’s a view from the ground looking up at the platform.

The beams are placed alongside the monorail platform.

The monorail at the resort has been temporarily suspended until summer while work is being completed.

The construction site was very active while we stopped by to take pictures today. We assume there is a race to have the hotel finished by the start of the summer.

A look from further back shows the crossbeam structure of the Great Ceremonial House.

When complete, the new entryway will feature a high-pitched, open-truss roof covered in a thatch style. There’s also a bold façade that features pops of color complementing the Longhouses found throughout the resort. Along the Monorail station, bold new wooden screens will be covered with geometric patterns in bright, tropical colors that complete an exciting new composition that will greet you when you arrive.
