Yesterday, Walt Disney Imagineering shared photos from testing one of the new “points of light” fixtures on Spaceship Earth at EPCOT. Today, Disney Parks posted a TikTok video with a closer look at one of the fixtures that will soon be installed as part of the icon’s new lighting package.
In the video, Imagineer Jason shares how the lighting fixture can have different colors shining out of the front of it, as well as out of the holes on the sides. In this way, the points of light will create a full grid across Spaceship Earth’s Alucobond panels, supporting a story of connection and communication.
Above is concept art for the new lighting package, which was announced as part of “The World’s Most Magical Celebration”, the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World. The lighting will debut by the time the celebration kicks off October 1, 2021, and will remain as a permanent fixture of the reimagined EPCOT.
