Hello from a wet and grey Magic Kingdom! It was considerably cooler today, with a chance of thunderstorms all day, but we made the most of what dry moments we had to check out what might be new here at Walt Disney World. Let’s get started!
While waiting to park at the Transportation & Ticket Center, we noticed that the maintenance vehicle for the Monorail beam was parked nearby. We couldn’t see what they were working on, but they stayed there for the duration of our hold time at the Toll Plaza.
Once we got inside the park, we noted that for the first time in a while that there were no new updates to Cinderella Castle.
On Cinderella Castle Stage, we noticed that the last section to be treated with the spray-on footing had cured a different color. It’s also possible that a second coat of the footing or the first coat of a different substance has been applied.
Although not very much progress was made, a portion of the left-wing of Dumbo the Flying Elephant was painted blue last night. We suspect the rainy weather kept workers from completing more, and the point where they stopped is visible on the roof.
The theming elements are still missing from the Jungle Cruise queue. The entire queue is now painted green, with all of the decorations removed from the walls.
The planter in between Tortuga Tavern and Pirates of the Caribbean has been covered in scrim fabric and partially blocked by themed barrels and crates.
New plastic-free packaging for the classic princess dolls has been introduced at the parks and on shopDisney in honor of Earth Day. This packaging features a full-color photo quality image of the doll inside printed on the front of the box, along with the dolls being on display in a case nearby. Speaking of princesses, we found a latecomer to the newly revamped Castle Collection princess dress line with this Aurora dress, which is available for $59.99 at Sir Mickey’s.
We found two new mugs today in the Castle “Home” Collection, both featuring Mickey head silhouettes on them. Both of these mugs are available at the Emporium for $19.99 each.
Our most interesting merchandise find of the day was the long-delayed Limited Release The Lion King “Stitch Crashes Disney“ Collection. For more pictures and information, check out our article here.
Next, we left the park and stopped by the Polynesian Village Resort for a relaxing stroll around the grounds. We found a new construction wall being put up around where a giant tree had been taken down a few weeks ago near Pineapple Lanai.
On our way off property, we drove past the construction on World Drive for the new overpass and noticed that fresh sod had been laid, covering the hill leading up to the first set of supports.
We had a wonderful day at the Magic Kingdom today, and we hope you enjoyed coming along with us. Have a magical day!
