UPDATE: Walt Disney World Officially Announces Park Pass Reservation Cancellations for Those Not Connected to Valid Theme Park Admission

Yesterday, we reported that Walt Disney World would be implementing a new policy regarding Park Pass reservations. If a guest does not have valid theme park admission for that day, their Park Pass reservation will be cancelled after a warning is sent.

Although Park Pass Reservations must be made with a valid ticket, sometimes Guests may change the dates on their tickets but not the dates of their Park Pass reservations. Walt Disney World is attempting to curb the holding of Park Pass Reservations when they’re not connected to valid theme park admission, allowing more availability for other Guests.

Above is a sample of the message guests will receive. Guests have 48 hours after receiving this warning to take action by linking a valid park admission to their My Disney Experience account or canceling their reservation. If they do not take action, their Park Pass Reservation will automatically be canceled.

In a similar manner, FastPass+ reservations were automatically canceled to prevent Guest abuse when canceling resort hotel stays in order to take advantage of the 60-day booking window.

Theme Park Reservations for Disney’s Hollywood Studios have been the hardest to come by thus far, with reservations fully booked through July 1st for Theme Park Ticket Guests and Resort Hotel Guests before being replenished shortly after. That being said, it is getting harder and harder to secure certain parks on certain days when planning a trip, even far in advance. Hopefully, Guests visiting the Walt Disney World Resort will now have a better chance of obtaining the Theme Park Reservations they want thanks to the new policy.

  1. I think I willwait till they go back to regular guest admissions and bring back fast pass; next year hopefully.

  2. I’m hoping they do something similar for restaurant reservations! If you don’t have a park reservation, you shouldn’t be able to hold a dining reservation for that park. It is almost impossible to get any dining reservations even at 60 days out. Then I notice the day before, tons of cancelled dining reservations pop up as available.

  3. I believe this will be the norm for all Disney Parks from this time forward. It’s the way they’ve chosen to deal with crowd control. You’ll always need to have a valid ticket or possibly annual pass in the future ATTACHED to a reservation. I don’t believe we’ll ever see the day again where we’ll just be able to walk up to the booths, buy a ticket and walk into the park of our choice. Unless, of course, said park has a reservation opening.

  4. Too little too late for my family. No reservations to be had when we wanted to move our reservations to a different park due to the weather. Was told either to use it or lose it for reservations/ticket for that day because there would be no refunds and there were no openings later during our time at the resort because of this issue. They did offer free 1 day passes to be used anytime in the future instead of going during a thunderstorm, but being from Wisconsin, and the cost of another trip to the money pit, we ended up going to the park for about 3 hours before the storms set in. Glad they finally acknowledged the issue they have. I felt bad for the people traveling the week after we left, they were scheduled for thunderstorms every day for a week. Due to having to make reservations a months in advance to crap shoot the weather and having no options if the weather is bad due to their reservation system that is broke

  5. When you are a pass holder with no blackout dates and they tell you you can’t go to the parks is ridiculous when they don’t discount you anything for the inconvenience of this. These passes aren’t cheap and for them to deny access to loyal pass holders is pathetic.
I will not be renewing my pass after this year and I won’t be giving Disney anymore of my money when they don’t give a crap about Loyal Florida residents with passes from the past several years !
