Original Menu Items Restored Starting Today at ‘Ohana in Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

As rumored yesterday, the original menu has partially been restored to ‘Ohana at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

The fan-favorite restaurant ‘Ohana reopened last month at Disney’s Polynesian Village with several disappointing menu changes. While Disney listened to fan outcries and brought back the famous ‘Ohana noodles, they introduced an unpalatable shrimp casserole and eliminated skewers.

The shrimp casserole, roasted chicken, and kielbasa sausage have been removed from the dinner skillet and replaced with peel-n-eat shrimp and grilled chicken.

The scones and cheddar-bacon biscuits have also been removed and ‘Ohana bread is back.

  1. Thanks to the O’hana gods!!!! Don’t mess with such a classic restaurant It’s menu is the key to success. Will definitely be patronizing again! Thank you bringing back the originals Disney.

  2. Until I saw the picture that accompanies this article, I didn’t know about the “Ohana means noodles” T-shirt. Could it be that the whole menu controversy was just an elaborate ploy to draw more attention to their Poly merch?

  3. Hubby and I dined there tonight. First, we were brought “scones”, not the Ohana bread that is mentioned on the Disney app. They had a salty/sweet taste to them , and very soft. Second was the mix greens salad with citrus dressing. It was good, but we only had a small amount because we were looking forward to the rest of the meal. Next came the noodles, dumplings, sausage, chicken wings and broccoli rabe. Noodles were excellent, dumplings were ok. I like sauce to dip them in myself, but hubby asked for more. The wings were just ok, abs a little dry. Sausage was FANTASTIC. Broccoli rage had NO seasoning and was just kind of…blah. Definitely miss the stir fry vegetables from the past. Next were were served the grilled bone-in chicken with chimichirri sauce for. Flavor was good however our chicken came almost burnt and very dry. They did bring out more but we passed as we still had beef and shrimp yet we were waiting on. Next came the beef. They were hardy chunks of sirloin with a teriyaki glaze. The sauce was a bit salty for me, abs it would have been nice if they asked us how we liked our meat. We tend to go more rare, this was more medium. Then the shrimp came. Boy do we miss the shrimp on the skewers. Not a fan of peel and eat shrimp at this price point. The shrimp was cooked well, and had decent flavor ( not spicy) but it just wasn’t what we were used to. Last, of course, was the bread pudding…and the reason we made reservations to begin with. The Carmel sauce is still YUMMY, thank goodness, as well as the bread pudding. One slight change though, a layer of pineapple on top. I was told the same recipe though, just with the added pineapple. All in all it was a good meal. However, if you are looking for the same great meal like they had before, it’s not it. Honestly, I wish they didn’t change it. We were excited to come back and eat there again after our last time, and we were a little disappointed. I’d love to hear others take on their experience, and what they think of the new changes.
