Steakhouse 71 has opened at Disney’s Contemporary Resort as part of “The World’s Most Magical Celebration,” honoring Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary. The steakhouse replaces The Wave… Of American Flavors and is an east coast version of the permanently closed Steakhouse 55 at Disneyland Hotel.

The entrance to Steakhouse 71 is at one end of the resort’s refurbished lobby.

The photos on the right wall of the entrance create a timeline of the creation of Walt Disney World. We took a closer look at them a few days ago.

As implied by the name, the entire steakhouse is themed to 1971, the year Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Contemporary Resort opened. The theming can be found in the art, architectural style, and decor.

Wavy glass is behind the check-in desk.

To the right of the check-in desk is a lounge area.

The bar is behind the check-in desk.

A wall with windows separates the bar from the dining room of the restaurant.

There’s another small seating area across from the check-in desk.

Next to this couch is artwork of guests boarding the PeopleMover, with Space Mountain and the defunct Skyway in the background.

A wall of booths is on the left upon entering the dining room, while both square and round tables are scattered around the center.

The booths are rounded and accommodate bigger parties.

Small walls keep the room somewhat divided. Actual dividers can be pulled out for private dining parties.

The back wall of this area has mid-century style artwork of Magic Kingdom.

There’s a second wall of booths across from the first.

There’s a mix of different types of chairs throughout the restaurant.

The ceiling is made of wood slats.

There are also different types of mid-century lighting fixtures.
