During the “Planes, Trains, and Monorails” panel at today’s Destination D23, it was revealed that Engine 1, the Walter E. Disney, of the Walt Disney World Railroad received a refurbishment.
The newly refurbished engine can be seen above. Imagineers also hinted at “more surprises” coming to the attraction when it eventually reopens.
No reopening date was given. The train had to be redirected as the future site for TRON Lightcycle / Run bisects its previous path.

looks very nice. but no mention of when it goes back into service. took the grandkids down 2 years ago, no train rides. such a shame. i realize things take time with tron and all but seriously?
