In what is becoming a somewhat daily occurrence, Monorail Teal apparently brokedown on the way to Epcot and required a tow.
The following video shows the monorail, filled with guests, being pushed past the Universe of Energy towards Test Track:
The monorail breakdowns have become a more pressing issue as of late, as the fleet continues to deteriorate rapidly. This comes just weeks after Monorail Blue broke on the Epcot loop, throwing a piece of the vehicle to the ground below and forcing the train to be towed to the Tranportation and Ticket Center. Of course, more routine breakdowns do occur on a regular basis as well.

I never knew that mechanical engineering was an area that you are so well versed and knowledgeable. I discover new nuggets of information from this site almost on a daily basis. Next time I need information in reguards to issues involving methods of transportation and how they operate, you are going to be the first individual I contact.
What part of this post has anything to do with mechanical engineering? Facts are facts, this post isn’t offering opinions or providing information regarding how methods of transportation operate. Oh, and Progressive Music Lover – the next time I need a pointless, negative, and sarcastic remark – “you are going to be the first individual I contact!”.
Dunce…

This take so hot you get it twice! I’m checking back here when I need advice on double posting my blistering hot commentary.
You should also seek help in online comment posting. Ya know, so you don’t end up posting the same snarky comment twice and making yourself look silly.
The monorails breaking down has been a daily occurrence for many years now. They have to refurbish or re-fabricate almost all the parts for the trains. Sure this is not a huge problem, for people that know what they are doing… Now the trains are automated to add to the complications. The old system (MAPO) was in severely bad condition, causing safety concerns for many years. The reason why it was never fixed? No one made, or could make the parts. Possibly just because Disney may not of wanted to pay for the high cost. I feel bad for the cast members there. Not only do their trains still break down all the time still, now they have to sit there and watch a computer do their job. I am sure this is the way Walt would have wanted it, haha. With is love of trains and driving them(including the Disneyland Monorail). Well, don’t expect it to get any better. The simple fact is, the monorail system doesn’t make any direct money. This means they will have the hardest time getting funding. “Well they have been “upgraded” with an automated system?” Haha, the details on that deal are fishy at best! They were supposed to have it completed way over a year ago, and still not fully finished. But they are running it. Is it safer than the old way? We will have to see. In my opinion, a big fat NO. The drivers can’t even see how far the train is “supposed” to be ahead of them. The train does know however. Weird huh? Sound safe? Anyways… I prey if something happen, no one gets hurt. Good luck to those cast that work there and let Disney take one of the best jobs to have at Disney away.
Add to that Disney rejecting people giving them new monorails for free…
Not true.
They rejected Siemens like a woman Disney Pete made a pass at!
Is that all you could come up with, Disney intern? As pathetic as your bosses. Get back to your monorail push shift.
I knew they shouldn’t have bought the monorails from Lyle Lanley.
Well it did put Brockway, Ogdenville and North Havenbrook on the map
Thank you for this very important update TomMZ!
If Disney would just lower the admission prices by 75%, and cut resort rates by 80%, and give all food and merchandise away for free, they would have the money necessary to properly maintain and update the parks and resorts without all this unnecessary greed and gouging. Walt must be rollin’ in his grave!!!
Blame the interns!!!!
“In what is becoming a somewhat daily occurrence”
So the last issue was on June 16th, yet you are asserting that this is “somewhat daily”? Time to turn the Hyperbole Machine down a few notches.
Monorails issues in general like breakdowns or outages, yeah, daily.
Death traps on a rail. That’s what my wife calls them. If there’s even electrical smoke, everyone in those is toast. Would be hour+ before ‘saved’ Disney does not maintain things very well. They’re 100% there for profit. Guest safety and experience does not matter.
I beg to differ with your statement about guest safety. Just open your eyes and look around. Guest safety is everywhere you look. Disney Security is everywhere. Reedy Creek is on property and will be there before you can blink your eyes if medical assistance is needed (I know this personally). I was a cast member a few years back – as a Monirail Pilot, and I can assure you that guest safety is a major part of the training I received. True the monorails break down a lot, but most of those “break downs” are a safety sensor malfunctioning or lock out modules. The trains have safety sensors that monitor safety sensors. When 911 hit, the entire Disney Company stopped any and all construction including a major expansion with the Monirail system including a run to Animal Kingdom. It was all haulted to move funds to guest safety. Please don’t make untrue statements about guest safety without knowing the facts. If you don’t feel safe at Disney then you’re just plain perrinoid.
Your wife sounds like a joy to be around.
I ride the monorail even if I don’t need to, because I love it. I hope Disney makes it a priority to revamp and replace the monorail infrastructure and train fleet (respectively) before the big anniversary coming up.
They had the opportunity to have Siemens completely rework their fleet as part of the renewal deal witj Spaceship Earth and Disney declined.
I think it’s great that Disney is offering guests new and unique experiences. The Monorail Towing Experience is just another example of that. And for an additional $115?! That’s a Deal!
Can’t wait until they make the Dining Package available
Kudos to Disney parks’ management for this momentous landmark. Way to go!. Just because of this, park tickets should be increased 45% so you can get an attaboy bonus.
Come at me Disney interns!!!
WDW shouldn’t have problem replacing those trains , a cash factor ? don’t think so …
After my last 3 trip involved resorts on the monorail line, I’m kinda happy I’ll be “offline” this September (WL & SSR).
That’ll give Disney time to solve these monorail issues before I return.
HaHa…………..yeah right!
