We’ve known since last year that various Disney characters would be hiding in the rockwork of Journey of Water, Inspired by “Moana.” Now that we’ve been able to visit the new EPCOT attraction, we’ve cataloged every hidden character and object we could find.
SPOILER WARNING: Below is a list of Easter eggs without locations if you want to find them on your own. After that are photos and locations of each one.
If you just want a walkthrough of the attraction, check out our daytime walkthrough and our nighttime walkthrough.
List of Easter Eggs
According to Cast Members, Imagineers hid 18 Easter eggs. Here’s what we found:
- Moana
- Baby Moana
- Hei Hei
- Pua
- Kakamora
- Maui’s tattoo
- Maui’s hook
- Boat
- Moana’s boat
- Baby sea turtle
- Adult sea turtle
- Te Fiti
- Te Fiti’s heart
- Tamatoa
- Moana’s seashell

The swirl of Te Fiti’s heart is at the front of the attraction (pictured above) but we’re not counting that. There’s a different version of her heart hidden elsewhere.
We also found a hidden Mickey — but it’s not carved into the rocks.
Guide to Easter Eggs
Te Fiti
In the rain section at the beginning of the attraction, you can see Te Fiti in the rocks well before meeting her giant self later on.
She’s highlighted with green moss and flowers around her head. A sign next to her tells you to look out for familiar shapes in the rocks.
Maui’s Tattoo
The tattoo version of Maui appears in the rocks on the opposite side of the stream.
He’s holding up his fish hook.
Hei Hei
Hei Hei is on a column of rock right next to the wetland sign. Look for his footprints on the ground leading to him.
Pua
Pua is in the spring section, next to a rock bench.
Boat
A regular boat is on the left rock wall after walking through the parting waterfall in the land section.
Moana’s Boat
Moana’s boat, with the Te Fiti symbol on the sail, is next.
It’s leading the other boat over a wave.
Grandma Tala
Grandma Tala, in her stingray form, is next to the waterfall that follows the land tunnels.
Maui’s Hook
Maui’s non-tattoo hook is on the rocks above the flowing water in the river section.
Baby Moana
When you enter the ocean section, baby Moana is in a waterfall to the right.
Tamatoa
To the left is Tamatoa, on a large rock in the pathway.
There are some gold pieces in the water in front of him.
Kakamora
Next to Tamatoa is a shaded water play area.
The Kakamora are carved into the rock wall at the back of this section.
Te Fiti’s Heart
Below the giant figure of Te Fiti is a detailed carving of her heart.
It’s covered in moss and beneath a waterfall.
It’s more detailed than the swirl at the Journey of Water entrance.
Starfish
A pair of starfish are on a wall above a bench in the ocean area.
Moana
Moana is next to the interactive water feature where you jump to “send” the water back to the sky.
Fish
In the group interactive feature is this fish.
Adult Sea Turtle
On the wall next to the group feature are the adult and baby sea turtles.
Baby Sea Turtle
Moana’s Seashell
The seashell is in the sky section at the very end, placed on a column of flat rocks, just like at the end of “Moana.”
Hidden Mickeys
If you look closely at these pears at the end of the land tunnels, you might see a few hidden Mickeys.
