Schinkennudeln: Pasta Gratin with Ham, Onions, and Cheese – $5.25

We love the flavors of this dish, but it’s very, very heavy. It would be the perfect dish to warm up with in the fall when it finally cools off. It’s pasta gratin with ham, onions, and cheese. Everything fits together nicely and is layered like a casserole. It may be a bit greasy, but its flavor and large portion size for sharing make it worth it.

Bratwurst on a Pretzel Roll with Mustard – $6.25

It’s a safe bet, it’s good for everyone. The actual brat is nothing crazy, but it’s well done. It’s a standard pretzel bun with a standard mustard dipping sauce.

Apple Strudel with Vanilla Sauce – $5.00

While not particularly exciting, this dessert has become a staple at the Food & Wine Festival. The crispy and flaky exterior holds in large chunks of well-cooked apple and cinnamon with a plentiful side of vanilla sauce. Recommended, especially at the price.

*NEW* von Trapp Brewing Oktoberfest Märzen-Style Lager, Stowe, VT (5.6% ABV) – $5.75 for 6 oz., $9.75 for 12 oz.
From Von Trapp Brewing: “This full-bodied amber lager is brewed in the traditional Märzen style. A blend of light and dark Munich malts creates notes of graham cracker, caramel, and bread crust complemented by floral and peppery aromas from Hallertau and Tettnang hops. Say ‘Prost’ with this crisp and celebratory lager.”
*NEW* Schöfferhofer Berry-Lime Hefeweizen, Frankfurt, Germany (2.5% ABV) – $5.75 for 6 oz., $9.75 for 12 oz.
From correspondence with Schöfferhofer, this beer features “a refreshing blend of sweet and tart notes of berries combined with the zesty freshness of lime, creating an unparalleled flavor experience.”
Weihenstephaner Festbier, Freising, Germany (5.8% ABV) – $5.75 for 6 oz., $9.75 for 12 oz.
From Weihenstephan: “Deep gold in color, this beer is luminous in the glass. From the very first sip, the full-bodied flavor is immediately perceptible – a balanced harmony of hop and malt aromas.”
Selbach-Oster Riesling QbA, Mosel, Germany ($16/bottle) – $9.00
From Wine.com: “Sourced from various sites in the Mosel, here is a Riesling with genuine varietal character (ripe but precise stone fruits, green apple snap and integrated minerality), a generous but balanced texture and that ‘petrol’ mineral component that can only come from the Mosel. Dry to just off-dry with exactly the right ‘fruity’ quotient. Fermented and aged exclusively in stainless steel tank.”
