We have just received word that the limited-time run of the Main Street Electrical Parade at Disneyland has been extended through the summer. The parade is now scheduled to “glow away” on August 20, 2017.

Hi
Great News The MSEP is the best parade in the world ..
i hope it say forever
i have sene the parade over 100 times at wdw tokyo disneyland and i just was it at disneyland and i was it at dca,,
thanks howard i am happy
june 17 is the 45 anniversary of the MSEP
I work in Disneyland, as cast member and manager said parades are revenue killers for two reasons. 1) They cost cast and clean up crew wages. and 2) they keep people sitting on the street not spending money in stores or restaurants. I happen to think that they are one of the things that keep bring guests back. Disney doesn’t care, or agree with that. They think the places would be to capacity with nothing to do, they have ‘legacy’. We shall see…
That’s just further proof they take customers for granted. It shows in all their decisions & actions.
But sadly, customers have decided to be taken for granted by making excuses for all the shenanigans this current management makes so why stop skimming on these gullible customers? They’re there for the taking.
Line of thinking:
– Disney thinks parades are revenue killers
– Disney extends Electrical Light Parade due to public interest, even though they think it’s a revenue killer
– “That’s just further proof they take customers for granted.”
Please explain.
– An executive’s wife told her husband to make it stay until she could see it one last time.
– It’s cheaper to dismantle the whole thing in late August.
– They need more time for the merchandising they’ll sell after the parade is gone to come from China.
I can think of more but you clearly look like the typical deluded “fan” that knows more than a CM, so keep living your “fantasy”. Do you need help from us to keep your hands over your eyes?
Why would it be cheaper to take it apart in August?
And, again, how exactly are they taking customers for granted if they are keeping a “revenue killer” in the park longer?
You’re doing an excellent job at fooling yourself.
Oh just shut the hell up already. You spend a large portion of your day whining and complaining about something that you could easily take out of your life and find something else to focus on. But instead here you are, every day, being the most annoying and asinine commenter on here. How sad is your life? Don’t answer that, we can all deduce that you must have a pathetic existence to spend your time crying like an entitled baby about a freaking theme park. I’m guessing you are also single, childless and have no social life.
Snowflake tears are so sweet. Could you give me some more?
I have to agree with you there Pete. It’s amazing how much some will argue that everything Disney does has at least 1% to do with guest experience. This show being extended for a few internal reasons, but doomed. As are any shows, or experiences that aren’t increasing sales or promotional efforts. No doubt the classics like Hunted Mansion, Space Mountain are on the block to either produce income, or maybe a movie overlay coming to sell stuff.
That must be why it was extended, that makes a whole lot of sense [troll]
No dummy, it was extended for contractual reasons with union of performers, that they would have had to pay, at first they were going to eat it to just get rid of the show, but then decided to let it stay….good press…as can see here. Make no mistake though. Disney could NOT care LESS about guests.
Thank goodness. I love the Main Street Electrical Parade and hope it never “glows away.”
The Disneyland website has returned the end date to June 18, 2017 for the Main Street Electrical Parade.
NOOOO
Someone please go destroy these floats. This is the worst soundtrack to ever hit the Disney Parks and further torture with it is just unnecessary, I’d rather have nothing and have Main Street open another hour or so before people camp for Fireworks.
Fireworks are going bye bye too. Will have a shorter (and cheaper) laser show. Just enough that some people will stay in park, but no so long that too many people aren’t in stores buying stuff.
They need to bring a nighttime parade to DW. We will gladly like to borrow paint the night parade. Parades are very nostalgic for me. Especially the electrical parade. But. We shall gladly borrow paint the night. Thanks
WDW is packed with tourists, Disney has NO need to provide any entertainment or value….worst part is…they very well know it. Chicken fingers and a coke, $32, only here.
I chick you mean the ubiquitous chicken breast nuggets..
Not everyone at Disney world is a tourist.
Your mom’s a tourist.
oh did you receive word or read a forum where the date was proven to be incorrect. LOL
Actually they did extend it. Read the blog

Thank you :)
The comments section on this site is like being at Fox News or Brietbart. LOL!!!
It had said August this morning but has since been changed back. Someone at Disneyhad itchy fingers I am thinking. So this news is a false alarm!
What’s the deal at Walt Disney World? They take the Main Street Electrical Parade and leave a great big hole in the evening”s entertainment lineup. The new evening events, “Once Upon a Time,” and the new fireworks show, “Happily Ever After,” seem heavy on comparatively cheap animated projections, while phasing out parades and stage shows saves a bundle on cast salary. It will be interesting to see if the new fireworks show uses the projected effects to allow them to use less actual fireworks, a recurring expense. It will be easy to tell ( thanks to YouTube) and will speak volumes about what’s going on.
It will have more pyro then wishes… You haven’t even seen the show yet you can’t judge off a few second clip…
I hope they have the Shaped-fireworks. I am really excited about this 3.0 show. A mix of fireworks, projections, lasers, searchlights, Tinker Bell, and possibly drones. Does anybody know what Nightime Parade is coming to the Magic Kingdom ?
Yes it’s called the parade of Brazilian tour groups.
Didn’t have them when we were there in Feb. We were very disappointed. I love the light show.

Maybe if you post this comment for a third time, someone will answer you.

The pyro will consist of sparklers, firecrackers, and those little black tablet that look like poop when you light them.
I also hope they continue the Wishing Star fireworks in Happily Ever After.
Can Disney do a Soft Opening of Happily Ever After first before it actually replaces Wishes?
Already happening at MK after hours. It’s NOT an impressive show, much cheaper to produce. More projections and lasers. Fewer fireworks. Cheap looking.
Is there any shapes?
Any Perimeter fireworks in it like the picture has?
Maybe is a sign that paint the night moves to Disney world. That need a nighttime parade and I have not seen paint the night at wdw so let them have thare parade. Then thay can get there original paint the night back and we will get 1 or 2 new paint the night floats!
I heard that might be happening
I hope they didn’t ruin the parade by using LEDs.
MSEP/DEP was already updated with LEDs back around the 2009 update. Not all, but a lot, I believe.
Cast member was telling us, that these floats are badly damaged and worn out over the years, they brought it back because Paint the Night costs a fortune to run. The soundtrack is great, but the parade is wobbly and old… Kinda hard to see paint the night and then downgrade to this… Some of the castmembers call it the parade that won’t go away and they use it everytime they wanna cut costs. It does bring back memories when I was young, to when it was in DCA for awhile. Glad to see it once… But it was rather underwhelming.. I’m happy for those that’s never seen it that they extended it though.
Since they are extending it to August and not bringing back Paint the Night, I have let the renewal date past. Half the park is closed and under construction, the price of salmon dinner at Minnie’s Cafeteria has skyrocketed to almost $20 for a 3oz piece of fish and have to continually face nonstop downgrades of park attractions… Really depressed…
