BREAKING: The Circle of Life – An Environmental Fable in The Land at Epcot Closing Forever, Possibly Linked to Brazil Pavilion Construction

After over 22 years at Epcot, Circle of Life: An Environmental Fable at The Land pavilion will have its final showing on February 3rd, 2018.

Disney Performing Arts will take over the space shortly after the closure for student workshops and performances beginning February 9th, 2018.

Disney Performing Arts currently holds these workshops and performances in a trailer located between the Germany and Italy pavilions in World Showcase. With the closure of the trailer, it seems likely that this move is happening to clear land for a new addition, possibly the long rumored Brazil pavilion.

  1. Ugh. I am all for getting new experiences in works showcase but I don’t like this Brazil idea. I’m sure I’ll be wrong, but all the other countries represented have iconic buildings. Brazil just doesn’t. Brazil’s beauty is natural… Rainforests, beaches, mountains. Do you think Disney will dare to put Christ the Redeemer atop a mountain there???? That IS, after all, the most iconic image of Brazil. I was much more hoping for a Poland, a Greece, an India, Thailand, Ukraine, Romania, Czech Republic…

    • Since day one, I always thought Italia (Venice) was underwhelming considering how absolutely incredible a place Venice is in real life… My hope was always that Disney would expand Venice to include more of it’s beautiful architecture AND AT MINIMUM incorporate actual working canals with Venetian gondolas driven by gondoliers singing iconic Italian song… I was happy they expanded it several years back but without working canals the entire pavilion misses the mark… Even the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas had the gumption and fastidiousness to install these amenities! Vegas! (yuk)

  2. Can’t get too worked up over this one. This was really tired and was usually a pass for me when at EPCOT. The theater was looking pretty sad too last time I was in there.

  3. Here comes 10 different competing Disney fan podcast/websites acting like they scooped this through their “sources”. This is just one of the many reasons Tom and the gang drink so heavily at Disney Springs

  4. This is not responsible to link this to a Brazilian pavilion unless there is evidence of it. If you want to be a news site, make sure your opinion pieces are separated from your news stories. This is why the Disney rumor mill on the Internet is so often wrong. Maybe Disney just wanted to use a nicer theater for the Disney Performing Arts and that was more valuable than this dated movie.

  5. Longer-term, this theater might be the perfect place to put the “Pixar Short Film Festival” if Disney decided to spruce up the Imagination pavilion (perhaps with a better Figment ride or even an Inside Out tie-in?)…
