Tokyo Disneyland will open its new Fantasyland and Tomorrowland expansion in 2020. A fully immersive Beauty and the Beast themed area will be added to Fantasyland, similar yet grander than the area in Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World. The land will feature an original Beauty and the Beast trackless dark ride in the Beast’s Castle and a theatre for live entertainment. As well, Minnie Mouse will be getting a new meet ‘n’ greet location in ToonTown, while in Tomorrowland, a Big Hero 6 ride similar to Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree in Disney California Adventure and the upcoming Alien Swirling Saucers in Disney’s Hollywood Studios is coming. Below are some pictures of the scale model of the new lands taken by the Ure Pia Research Institute at the D23 Expo in Japan.
To the top right of the photo is the new theatre. At the top left is the Beast’s Castle and behind it is the show building to contain the dark ride. At the bottom of the photo is the roof of the Big Hero 6 attraction.
Guests will enter Beast’s castle by crossing a bridge; the same as the one at the entrance to Be Our Guest in the Magic Kingdom.
No show has been announced for the theatre, but Frozen is a strong contender.
Belle’s Village will have gift shops for the land and a Gaston water fountain. One side of the street directly backs onto the new Big Hero 6 ride.
Grand Circuit Raceway and the Star Jets were closed to make way for the Big Hero 6 attraction.
The Big Hero 6 ride will feature Baymax-esque personal healthcare companions pulling guests in carts.
Minnie Mouse will have a meet ‘n’ greet with guests in a new location in ToonTown near Pooh’s Honey Hunt.
You can check out more pictures of the model here. All of the additions will be open in Spring 2020.
Will they be getting a be our guest with the beast castle or is it just a ride? With the success of be our guest in WDW you would think they would add it.
“At the top left is the Beast’s Castle and behind it is the show building to contain the dark ride.”
The scheme is very similar to Efteling’s Symbolica Castle with the dark ride show building behind :-)
Even the pack of close-front forced perspective towers… :-)
Except that Symbolica is in the running since mid 2017 :-)
Other similarities to the well running Symbolica : “trackless dark ride” YES :-) …
Wonder if Disney now is also going to make a 3 ride versions type of dark ride, just as Symbolica pioneered ? :-) ….
It seems to me with Beauty & the Beast, the attractions entry is “street level”, while Efteling’s Symbolica waitrow winds up the castle hill, and you enter high above street level. Which offers nice lookout over the plazza in front, while waiting to enter :-)
