PHOTOS: Updated Rooms at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel

After a long renovation period, the rooms at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa are complete. I recently had the privilege of staying in a new room and it was well worth the wait.

My room for the weekend. Let’s see what the fuss is all about.

One unexpected feature I discovered immediately was the manually controlled recessed lighting around the perimeter of the room. It could be left at any brightness and was quite fun to play with—let’s hope kids don’t discover it!

The mattress felt like I was sleeping on a cloud.
Even the pull-out bed was unbelievably comfortable & this sweet scene from Bambi was a lovely surprise. I also loved the choice of artwork displayed above the sofa.

Space is used quite efficiently in the new set up and the details are appreciated.

Newly tiled spacious shower with built-in seat and two shower heads.
Double sinks with plenty of counter space, lots of room for toiletries underneath, and a handy stool.
Great work-nook next to the coffeemaker, fridge, and closet space.

Personally, I enjoyed the Disney touches in the room.

In true Spa-resort fashion, these are comfortable enough to make you contemplate heading down to the Mandara Spa…even if just to sit in the sauna.

This mischievous woodland pair is hidden within the new woodwork in the room.

It’s clear that there was special attention paid to the details and quality in each room. I think the improvements made in the rooms were well worth the wait!

  1. The beds at the Grand Californian are the most comfortable of all of Disney’s deluxe resorts. I don’t understand why these beds are not at any of the Florida deluxe resorts.

  2. I got the privilege to stay in this exact room about 3 months ago and I can say, I probably won’t stay anywhere but here when I go to Disneyland now.

    • I feel the same way! I’ve stayed at all three Resort hotels multiple times over the years and with the latest upgrades at the Grand Californian, it’s going to be hard to stay anywhere else.
