Wilderness Lodge Launches Ability To Unlock Room Door Via My Disney Experience App

Like we shared a few days ago, guests will soon have the ability to open their doors using the My Disney Experience app. As of today, guests staying at the Wilderness Lodge are the first to be able to use this new digital key. According to this page on Disneyworld.com, to use this feature, guests can opt-in and activate the new feature on the day they check-in, through a quick setup process in the My Disney Experience app.

New Digital Key Feature Coming to Walt Disney World Resort

For guests to enter their rooms, they simply tap the “Unlock Door” button on the app and hold their phone against the door lock. In addition to unlocking their rooms, this will also work for unlocking the hotel gate entrance and common area doors that previously required a key such as pools, fitness centers, elevators and club level lounges. You will need the latest update of the My Disney Experience app on your Bluetooth-enabled phone for this feature to work.

Guests can still use their MagicBand to unlock their room door; this is just another option for a seamless entry into guest rooms. If you’ve checked in online before your stay, you have the option of bypassing the front desk and going directly to your room once it’s ready. There is no limit to how many devices can have a digital key to your room, but the feature must be individually activated on the My Disney Experience app by a guest staying in your room.

As of right now, only guests staying at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, including the Copper Creek Villas & Cabins and Boulder Ridge Villas, have access to this feature. This new feature is expected to be rolled out to all Disney resorts in the coming months.
