Officials are expected to announce that Orlando has been named the host of the 2022 Special Olympics USA Summer Games, beating out bids from four other states. The official announcement will come tomorrow in a press event at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at the Walt Disney World Resort.
Three venues are expected to host the variety of events for the summer sporting event: the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex, the YMCA Aquatic Center, and the U.S. Tennis Association National Campus.
Over 4,000 athletes, 1,500 coaches, and 20,000 spectators are expected to attend the 2022 Special Olympics, which should fill 57,000 hotel rooms and bring a $61 million impact on the Orlando area.
