Disney shared an early look at their upcoming TV shows The Rocketeer and The Owl House during a presentation at the Annecy Festival.
The Rocketeer is a 3D animated show for Disney Junior that is a reimagining of the original comics for the two to five year-old demographic. The series is about a six-year-old girl named Kit Seacourt who receives a jet pack for her birthday. Although the show does not directly relate to the comic series or the 1991 film, it does aim to capture the spirit of The Rocketeer for a newer generation of viewers. The show is currently scheduled to launch in 2019.
The Owl House is a new 2D animated horror-comedy series for Disney Channel created by Dana Terrace, who has previously worked on Gravity Falls and DuckTales (2017). The premise of the show is that a teenage girl named Luz discovers a portal to another realm in which humans are not looked upon favorably. Luz must disguise herself in an attempt to better fit in at witch school. The Owl House is currently in pre-production and is slated for a 2019 debut.
