PHOTO REPORT: Disneyland Resort 8/15/18 (Galaxy’s Edge, New Hotel on Hold, Halloween Arrives, ETC.)

It feels like everywhere you look there is construction at Disneyland Resort these days.

Yesterday we posted Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge aerial photos, showing much more detail on the current progress of the land.

Construction on the new parking structure next to Mickey & Friends is moving along quickly.

Which is good since construction on the new Disneyland hotel at the west end of Downtown Disney has come to a halt. Food trucks are now available daily from 3-midnight in front of the former AMC while it awaits demolition.

Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer and Ballast Point are both still under construction with no opening date announced for either eatery except 2018.

The bar side of Naples is open but the rest remains under construction.

Pixar Pier continues to draw some crowds to Disney California Adventure.

Jessie’s Critter Carousel is still under construction, slated to open in 2019.

The Bing Bong statue remains hidden behind the curtain at Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff.

Over at the Games of Pixar Pier, Heimlich’s Candy Corn Toss has been out of it’s namesake prize for a while. Guests also now throw baseballs instead of candy corn  bean bags.

The World of Color refurbishment remains under way with the platform raised. No return date has been announced for World of Color, but it is doubtful it will return before the Christmas season at the earliest.

A Bug’s Land is on its way to extermination and will close permanently on September 4th at park close.

The poor bug statues have been long forgotten and are struggling to peek through the overgrown greenery.

Over at Disneyland, Tiki Room is down for refurbishment until 9/21.

Luckily the Tiki Juice Bar remains open and accessible on both sides.

Tropical Hideaway is still under construction with no opening date announced.

Over on the other end of the park Matterhorn is also down for a lengthy refurbishment, slated to reopen in Fall 2018. The waterfalls are dry and the construction walls extend far out passed the queue.

  1. As a Southern California local for 47 years, I don’t remember a time when the DLR Resort has been this much of a construction mess. But hopefully it all be worth it later next year. The Halt of hotel construction is very concerning though. Some nice places were closed for that project.
