Decorate Your Own Ornament With Ostrich Eggs At Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge
There’s nothing better than resort hopping around Walt Disney World during the holidays. Incredible decorations, seasonal activities, and festive treats can be found almost everywhere, but some are more notable than others. One worth mentioning is a cute little ornament decorating activity offered at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. With a minimum donation of $5 to the Disney Conservation Fund, you can make your very own souvenir ornament.
You may already have a few handmade ornaments hanging on your tree, but we’ll take a wild guess that they’re not made with ostrich eggs. Well, now is your chance to change that! Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge provides you with all you need to create your own animal ornament using actual ostrich egg pieces.
A table is set up in the lobby with a variety of African animals preprinted on colorful cardstock paper. The ostrich eggshells are dyed different colors and broken into various shapes and sizes. After choosing your favorite animal, you’ll be given cups of eggshells in your choice of colors. More supplies can be found at another table near the Christmas tree. Guests of all ages are welcome to join in on the fun.
Put your arts and crafts skills to work by arranging and gluing the ostrich egg pieces down to the paper. This may sound like the equivalent of gluing pasta on construction paper, but ostrich egg ornaments are obviously so much better. They look like colorful mosaics of different shapes and textures.
Ornament decorating is offered in the lobby of Jambo House at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge daily from 2:30PM-5:30PM. It’s a seasonal activity, so it will only be offered through the holidays. The cost is a $5 donation to the Disney Conservation Fund and 100% of the proceeds go towards conservation efforts.
