Insomniac Games has released a surprise update for Spider-Man PS4 that includes the “Tobey Maguire” suit from the original Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy.
The update is available now, and if you already own the game, you get the suit for free, which rounds out the already robust lineup of suits available both through the base game, and via DLC.
Fans have been begging for this suit’s inclusion since before the game was even released. In fact, there has been a little bit of controversy regarding some more aggressive fans hounding Insomniac Games’ community director James Stevenson.
In August, the Insomniac Twitter account teased fans with the image shown below of the Sam Raimi Spidey logo. Since then, certain fans have been rather boisterous about their desire for the “Tobey Maguire” suit to make its way into the game.

Along with the announcement, Stevenson took to Twitter to say, “Just know things take a LONG time sometimes (months and months!) and even then go down to the literal wire. We obviously never stopped listening.”
Rejoice, true believers. The inclusion of the suit that kicked off Spidey’s silver screen career nicely wraps up a fantastic year for fans of the “masked menace” (J. Jonah Jameson’s words, not mine). Between Avengers: Infinity War, Spider-Man PS4, and Into the Spider-Verse, 2018 has been a stellar year for fans.
