VIDEO: New “Move It! Shake It! MousekeDance It! Street Party” Debuts at The Magic Kingdom

As part of Mickey & Minnie’s Surprise Celebration, the new “Move It! Shake It! MousekeDance It! Street Party” at Magic Kingdom Park invites guests to dance with Mickey, Minnie, and their pals in front of Cinderella Castle. Instead of the contemporary music that is usually a staple of Disney street parties, live singers belt out new renditions of classic “Mickey Mouse Club” songs in a celebration of fun and dance. Today marks the official debut of the street party after the demise of the “Move It! Shake It! Dance & Play It! Street Party” that debuted in 2014 and the “Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! Street Party” that preceded it. Let’s check it out!

The street party’s main track, titled “It’s a Good Time” by The DeeKompressors, was created just for the celebration. If you can’t seem to get it out of your head, it’s also available for download on iTunes and Spotify.

  1. The concept of having a traveling show come down the street, and circle the hub, to give personal involvement entertainment with the Guests is a good one…

However, even with this THIRD version of the “Street Party”, the feeling created is NOT FITTING or Appropriate for the front of Cinderella Castle.

The Music is NOT traditional Disney Classic, and NOT at all enchanting.

I find my jaw cringing during the entire presentation, and by adding a traditional touch of vocal spelling out MIC-KEY MOUSE does NOTHING to give this the much needed enchantment.

At BEST this belongs in Tomorrowland, or Hollywood Studios…

Having Guests and their kiddies jump around as if they are “dancing” may give a feeling of being part of something, but as far as Entertainment Value for anyone who does not want to get into a sweat and do something remotely called “dancing”, it completely misses the mark.

It falls into the category of “entertainment” by “spectacle”, and the only redeeming factor of the newest version is that the height on the Float units has been decreased, lessening the shock of the appearance of these units on unsuspecting Guests, as the units hurry their way down Main Street to attack the beauty of the Castle Hub.

For ages 2 to 5 who know no better, perhaps this is something considered FUN…

For the traditional Disney Guest who comes to be absorbed into the MAGIC, this is something to be avoided, or seen only at a far distance as they are passing in the back ground.

Things like this being presented as low quality “entertainment” are doing great harm to the most MAGICAL PLACE IN THE WORLD.
