We’ve been chronicling the progress of the Japan Pavilion’s up-and-coming signature dining restaurant ever since it was announced. Work has been seemingly slow on the project, but it appears that a metal awning structure has gone up over the entrance area recently, which is definitely a step forward.
How do you say “That’s progress, dear.” in Japanese?
Additional walls have gone up. This area is located to the right of the existing Mitsukoshi store. Guests will enter the new restaurant along an expanded pathway across the front of the pavilion.
The restaurant will reside on the first floor of the shopping/dining complex, taking over space utilized for some of the Mitsukoshi store, merchandise storage, and other backstage facilities. If you refer to our original article of the restaurant’s announcement, there’s a map showing the vacant side building to be used for the restaurant.
Interestingly enough, they’ve added detailed texturing to that bottom left corner of this wall. This v-shaped structure may play into one of the restaurant’s seven (yeah, seven!) themed rooms:
- Material Room (Check-In, Lobby)
- Wa Room
- Water Room
- Washi Room
- Wood Room
- Stone Room
- Earth Room
We can’t wait to see more of Japan’s upcoming signature dining restaurant as it comes together. Stay tuned to our Epcot photo reports and dedicated updates for coverage of this construction site as it progresses.
