It’s been a long time coming, but Bongos Cuban Café is finally slated to close later this year at Disney Springs, per multiple Cast Members who currently work there.
This closure has been rumored for a very long time, ever since the Disney Springs project began. Reportedly, all third-party restaurants were given the option to either remodel or leave, which became the fate of the longstanding Wolfgang Puck Grand Café right next door.
As for what will take over the space, it is being said that the owners of Splitsville might buy the space and transform it into a Tex-Mex restaurant, or something similar.
In the meantime, until the restaurant officially closes, you still have time to eat some of the best (if not the best) churros on property. Reservations are currently showing availability until November 2nd, but no official announcements have been made by Disney as to the closure.
Rumors also suggest that Bongos is moving to Sunset Walk at the new Margaritaville Resort in Orlando.

I called them last night and inquired about this because my wife and I have reservations there on 8/8 for our anniversary and I wanted to make sure that I didn’t need to book something else. They advised me there was no official notice, but placed me on hold for several minutes and told me to check back in closer to the reservation. Shortly after that I checked the reservation page on WDW.com and it was not accepting any reservations for Bongos any longer. I checked it again today and now it lets you book reservations through Sunday 8/18/19. Looks like that will be the last day they will be open.
