A construction worker has been hospitalized after he fell into a hole while working outside Disney’s Animal Kingdom, according to WESH.
Orange County Fire Rescue officials stated that firefighters were contacted around 1:45 PM on Tuesday to respond to an emergency near park’s tram drop-off in the parking lot. The man was reportedly working near a trench box used for excavation, when it gave way, causing the worker to fall into a hole approximately 8-10 feet wide by 5 feet deep.
Fire officials added that initially, both the worker’s legs were trapped, but he was ultimately able to free one leg on his own. Using hand tools, the fire rescue crews were able to dig out his other leg, which was reportedly buried up to his hip. He was then taken to a hospital for treatment. The worker is not a Walt Disney World employee.
