PHOTOS: New Concrete Poured as Rose Walk Pathway Widening at Epcot Continues

If you, like many of us, have ever gotten stuck in the bottleneck that was the pathway between Future World and World Showcase (near Imagination) at Epcot, then you’ll be glad to know that a project is currently underway to widen and expand that walkway. The area closed back in June to begin preparations for the much-needed widening. It’s looking like they’re on schedule to get this path back up and running in time for the 2019 Food and Wine Festival which starts at the end of August.

The first concrete of the newly expanded pathway has been poured! It’s already looking like a much more pleasant pathway to navigate.

The cement mixer still has a lot of work ahead of it.

Only a few slabs are finished so far, but if there’s one thing Disney seems to be efficient at, it’s concrete and pathway work.

You can see one of the booths is still here, patiently awaiting the Food and Wine Festival.

This space near the path is always used for booths and other festival-specific activities. It should be interesting to see how they redesign the area to make up for the wider path.

You can see some concrete work going on closer to World Showcase, as well. This looks to be possibly a planter of some sort.

Other work is happening nearby as well. Walls went up around the greater area last week. It appears they’ve decided to expand the path all the way down to path that connects the Innoventions breezeway to Imagination. This area is also used for various festivals.

I for one can’t wait for the area to reopen. As bad as the old bottleneck was, it’s currently much worse to have to walk all the way around. Food and Wine is right around the corner, though! The redesigned pathway should be open in time for you to taste your way around the world. We’ll keep you updated as the project continues!

Pictures of dirt. Wow. Must be a slow non-news day.
