As we had previously announced, the pathway connecting Future World and World Showcase (near the Imagination pavilion), has now closed in order to be widened.
The pathway is completely blocked off from both ends now. If you attempt to enter it from World Showcase (near the Refreshment Port) you’ll find yourself confronted by these construction walls.
A less permanent barrier is currently blocking the path on the Future World side.
The pathway is home to various booths during the major festivals at Epcot. Most recently, during the International Flower and Garden Festival, you could find a playground in addition to the food booths.
These seasonal additions are removed and rearranged every year for the festivals, so we’re used to construction walls and scrim in this area. What we’ve never gotten used to, though, is the bottleneck that happens along here at many times of day. Thankfully, management has realized this and plans to solve the issue. They’re finally waking up to the bottleneck problems across property.
They’ve already started tearing out the old pathway along with the temporary playground area. The Honey Beestro from the Flower and Garden Festival was also removed already.
I’m personally hoping for a nice, open pathway when they’re finished. One would assume they aim to have this finished in time for the 2019 International Food and Wine Festival, which begins at Epcot on August 31st. We’ll keep you updated as the progress on this new project.
