We’re at it again at Magic Kingdom! The heat index was 108 degrees today, so it was definitely a reminder that this is the hottest month of the year in central Florida, and I’m hoping, for your sake, that you’re reading this in the comfort of air conditioning. Let’s get started!
This is one of my favorite little pieces of hidden magic in Magic Kingdom. It’s Lady and Tramp’s footprints in the pavement in front of Tony’s Town Square, but you can really only get a good look at it early in the morning, since this area is usually used for stroller parking throughout the day.
In the Emporium, it’s only a matter of time before this area is gets taken over with Halloween merchandise. The first Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is coming up on August 16th, and it will definitely make the switch over by that point.
Astro Orbiter remains closed for maintenance.
At the TRON construction site, there’s not too much visible progress happening around the actual coaster, but equally exciting right now is work being done on the giant pile of dirt that had accumulated next to the Tomorrowland Speedway track.
I will still enjoy the views of this coaster every day I can get it before they start work on enclosing it within a show building.
The dirt pile is a bit of an eyesore all around Tomorrowland.
In Tomorrowland Light & Power Co., a couple of new phone cases celebrating Haunted Mansion’s 50th Anniversary popped up on D-Tech on Demand. I love the option of the frosted clear bumpers for these, and I’m pretty partial to the wallpaper printed one.
By Cinderella Castle, the pathway widening is coming along. There’s quite a bit more painting on the red bricks. We’ll probably see them come back and start shading them different colors in the next few days, like the bricks above.
In Liberty Square, at Memento Mori, there’s still a queue of Guests waiting to get in and check out the Haunted Mansion 50th Anniversary merchandise. This is a very small store, and the queue was moving very slowly.
At Haunted Mansion, all of the awnings in the queue have FINALLY all returned… the day after Haunted Mansion’s 50th Anniversary celebration. I’m still happy to see them all back, but it’s a shame it couldn’t have been one day earlier.
The Liberty Square Market seating area is still undergoing some pretty extensive work. With the seating area by Sleepy Hollow also under refurbishment right now, there aren’t many places to eat your waffle sandwich or your turkey leg, so keep that in mind on your next snack break.
With the Halloween season right around the corner, and the first Not-So-Scary Halloween Party on August 16th, preparations have started to get Magic Kingdom ready for spooky season. These lighting structures around Frontierland are for the Boo To You Parade that will run every Party night.
In Pecos Bill Tale Tale Inn Cafe, it seems they’ve switched from their self-serve water station to individual cups of water again. It might have something to do with all of the people refilling their personal water bottles at these stations, ignoring the sign asking to only use the cups provided. I still appreciate that there’s free ice water available at all, though.
In Adventureland, Raspberry Dole Whip has made a very welcome return to Aloha Isle. This flavor had disappeared when the Hei Hei Cone did, but it’s made its way back in the form of a Raspberry and Pineapple Dole Whip swirl float. This is my favorite Dole Whip flavor, so I’m ecstatic to see it return in any form.
That’s all for my day around Magic Kingdom! As usual, keep checking WDWNT for all of the latest updates!
