It’s the end of an era at Disneyland Park’s Tomorrowland as the fan-dubbed “french fry” rocks that flanked the entrance are currently being removed.

At first, we believed this to be simple pathway work, but behind those walls are excavators hard at work removing the rock work that’s been there since the late ’90s remodel of Tomorrowland.

According to The Orange County Register, Disney officials have confirmed that the rocks are in the process of being removed along the north side of the Tomorrowland entrance, and the marquee sign that says “Tomorrowland” has already been removed. The remainder of the rocks will be taken out in a slow process over the coming months, according to officials.

The rock removal has been attributed to Project Stardust, an park-wide effort to improve the guest experience across the park, leveling out sidewalks and improving on areas where uncomfortable bottlenecking tends to occur, which was the case for this Tomorrowland entrance, much like the Adventureland one.

Currently, they’re only working on one side of the rock formation, with still a ways to go before they can move over to the other side. We’ll keep you updated on this project as it progresses.

  1. Finally! I got stuck there once while in an ECV with a large crowd barely moving. So glad they’re getting rid of those blasted rocks.

  2. Thank goodness. Those eyesores needed to go years ago. Here is hoping this can lead into a bit of a more major rehab for Tomorrowland.

  3. Now if you really want to open up the enterence area and illuminate the traffic bottleneck then REMOVE THE ASTRO ORBITER and put it back where it was. You can install up and down walk up ramps under the Old people mover track and install an elevator at the back like it was before for handicapped guest to get up to the loading area. And while you’re at it take out the extra planters so you can walk up past the Tomorrowland terrace patio instead of being forced to walk right into it. Okay now I’m just rambling but this is important completely eliminate guest from bringing their own strollers into the park go to a small banana stroller and I rent it for a dollar a day. Then you won’t have to have half the area designated for stroller parking. Okay I’m done thanks for listening.

  4. Can we have a TL that leads the ideas to adapting to Climate Change, Plastics Pollution, Chemical Pollution, Water Shortages, Food Production, and changes in our concept any space alien is something to shoot at or be killed. How about a conflict resolution future rather than a violence promoting future? Ideas?
