We present you with yet another The Haunted Mansion 50th anniversary specialty food review… and there’s no turning back now. This time, we’re trying the Sliders Materialize and “Hitchhiking” Ghosts Blue Velvet Cake Trio at River Belle Terrace in Disneyland.
Sliders Materialize – $19.00
This dish consists of two pork belly sliders, one sweet and one savory, served with sweet potato fries. The sweet pork belly slider is served on a toasted brioche bun topped with crisp cabbage slaw and pomegranate vinaigrette. And the savory pork belly slider is served on a toasted brioche bun topped with black pepper bacon mayo, butter lettuce, cherry tomatoes, and crisp bacon.
Unfortunately, the pork belly was so tough that you couldn’t eat it as a sandwich. It was nearly inedible! It’s a shame because the buns were really well made. And the sweet potato fries were great, too, and seasoned perfectly. Overall, the sliders were way too small and not good, so we don’t recommend getting them.
“Hitchhiking” Ghost Blue Velvet Cake Trio – $22.00
Presentation-wise, this dessert is perfection. All three Hitchhiking Ghosts sit in their own doom buggies! The blue velvet cake is soft and moist, with cheesecake hiding in the base of each doom buggy. It’s topped with blueberries for the perfect flavor combination. This is one of those seasonal items you’ll think about every time you come back, wishing it was still there. We highly recommend this dessert.
These specialty food items are available for a limited time, so we do recommend making reservations at River Belle Terrace as soon as possible.
