It’s been a minute since we’ve checked in on Tokyo DisneySea! It’s high time we take a look at the world’s greatest theme park, and see what’s been new in the past couple of weeks, including a special look at the Fantasy Springs expansion!
Disney Resort Line & Fantasy Springs
Normally, I walk through Ikspiari to get to Tokyo DisneySea. But, we haven’t checked in on the Fantasy Springs construction in a very long time! So, let’s take a ride on the Disney Resort Line, which is our monorail system, and see what’s coming!
Yes, we do have to pay for our monorail. That’s due to Japanese railway laws, rather than greed.
One of the cool things despite having to pay fares is the neat day ticket designs! They rotate by season, and make for a neat and practical souvenir of your visit!
There’s special pressed medallion designs available at all four Resort Line stations! A couple of them even rotate seasonally!
There’s a neat little photo op featuring the two park icons on the first floor of Resort Gateway Station. This changes sometimes, particularly for anniversary events.
As I talked about last week, new platform gates are being installed at Resort Gateway Station, seen in the background.
Aboard the monorail, our windows are Mickey silhouette-shaped. Back in April, adorable Mickey faces were installed in the windows (which I’ve heard mixed opinions on). The train was a tad full, so I couldn’t shoot around. But, this is the one I sat in front of. Cute, right?
Cranes were added, foundation and pits are all beginning to be dug! We are seeing some excellent progress on Fantasy Springs, and I anticipate it being ready shortly after the Tokyo DisneySea 20th Anniversary celebration concludes in 2022!
Tokyo DisneySea
One of the exclusive benefits of taking the Disney Resort Line is this excellent view of the AquaSphere Plaza! You can really get an excellent sense of the scale of this area from up here!
We’re in the midst of Disney Halloween here at Tokyo DisneySea! This year it’s an all new theme, featuring the new harbor show Festival of Mystique.
The scaffolding is coming down on Mount Prometheus… AND THE VOLCANO EFFECTS ARE ON AGAIN!!
In the American Waterfront, the DisneySea Electric Railway tracks have been covered with netting, presumably to prevent birds from nesting. Curiously, these nets are not in place in Port Discovery.
The scaffolding around the Broadway Music Theater has come down to the ground on the side of the building. Big Band Beat is scheduled to take a short hiatus in January and February, presumably to accommodate necessary interior construction.
The S.S. Columbia’s stacks are still covered in scaffolding, and the aft stack is still partially removed if you look closely.
At this point, the rain really started to come down. But that didn’t stop people from taking a spin on Aquatopia! This somewhat returns the splashy summer version of Aquatopia that was present through the summer, I guess.
Not even hard rain will prevent folks from lining up for 2+ hours to see Song of Mirage.
Even in Lost River Delta, the rains couldn’t quell the flames of Raging Spirits! Didn’t stop riders either, as I kept seeing groups of soaked but happy Guests.
Sindbad and Chandu teach us the valuable lesson of following the compass of your heart. At this point, the compass in my heart said “get out of the rain”, so I took a voyage to wait out the worst of the rain!
The Magic Lamp Theater’s queue stretched across the entire plaza in Arabian Coast. This line built up extremely quickly, so the switchbacks weren’t active yet. The line really was about 15 minutes.
If there’s one thing that drives Guests in to Mermaid Lagoon, it’s rain. At least it’s still gorgeous! But, it’s too bad I can’t shoot well with my phone in here.
Such a heartbreaking sight. Journey to the Center of the Earth is closed through November 30th. I guess it’s time for some heavy maintenance, but that doesn’t mean I’m not sad about these changes.
Merchandise
While I was taking shelter in Mermaid Lagoon, I came across this huge Ariel body pillow. For the low low cost of ¥4500, or $41.70, you can have your own Ariel body pillow.
These pins are both Â¥1000, or $9.27. I love the one the right, featuring Minnie on Jumpin’ Jellyfish!
These beautiful plates represent Cinderella, Ariel, and Rapunzel! They’re actual ceramic, too! These plates are Â¥1400, or $12.97.
These little ceramic containers look like they’re meant to hold sugar or other seasonings. These are just gorgeous, aren’t they? For Â¥1850, or $17.14, you can have these cute containers in your kitchen!
These huge fluffy hats are all the rage (especially the fluffy Hamm-themed version) and many Japanese guests love to wear them! These Buttercup and White Rabbit editions just came out in the past couple weeks, and cost a cool ¥2800, or $25.94.
That’s all from Tokyo DisneySea this week! Lots of stuff coming in, and we’ll be trying to get back in the habit of weekly reporting for both parks! Is there anything cool you saw? Anything you’re excited for? Let us know below or on Twitter!
