REVIEW: Jack Skellington Sandwich for Disney Halloween at Tokyo Disneyland’s Sweetheart Cafe

It’s time for Disney Halloween at Tokyo Disney Resort! And one of my favorite parts of any Tokyo Disney Resort event is the array of snacks and food items available! In this series of reviews, I’ll be detailing every single new snack and counter-service item. You may not know that Disneyland isn’t the only park with a “Holiday Nightmare” version of The Haunted Mansion. We have one out here at Tokyo Disneyland as well! And with that attraction returning, there’s also a brand-new Jack Skellington sandwich at Tokyo Disneyland’s Sweetheart Cafe to celebrate this spooky season!

Special Set – ¥1050 ($9.75)

I love the looks of this already! There’s almost always an adorable sandwich for event celebrations. For Donald’s Hot Jungle Summer, there was an exceptional Donald-face sandwich!

Cute! Even Sally is theoretically staring at Jack in this sandwich.

As for the taste? It’s not very good, honestly. The sandwich is described as “tomato-braised beef”, but what I tasted was spaghetti sauce with lettuce and some mayonnaise. Personally, I don’t really want to eat a spaghetti sauce and lettuce sandwich. Plus, it’s cold. Like really cold. If you’re making a spaghetti sauce sandwich, it should probably be hot. It’s a shame that it isn’t very good, because it’s so darn cute!

The wrapper is also wonderful. Now, Sally is staring at Jack dressed as Sandy Claws! Let’s all agree that Tokyo Disney Resort has wonderful food wrappers, and I wish I had a reason to save it.

As for the grape jelly, I loved this so much. It had three actual grapes in it, and the jelly itself was delicious. It’s not like Jell-O, but actual grape jelly with a genuine grape taste. No chemical Welch’s taste here! I definitely recommend picking this up at Sweetheart Cafe, but skip the Jack Skellington sandwich.

Overall, this was by far one of the most disappointing meals I ate. The jelly was wonderful, but the sandwich itself was poorly executed, and I hope the “hit-and-miss” pattern isn’t coming to Sweetheart Cafe too, as they tend to have excellent seasonal sandwiches. The Skellington Sandwich is available at Sweetheart Cafe through October 31st.
