REVIEW: Teriyaki Chicken Bun for Disney Halloween at Tokyo DisneySea’s Seaside Snacks

It’s time for Disney Halloween at Tokyo Disney Resort! And one of my favorite parts of any Tokyo Disney Resort event is the array of snacks and food items available! In this series of reviews, I’ll be detailing every single new snack and counter-service item. For some reason, the Ukiwa Bun is an extremely popular snack at Tokyo DisneySea. I’m not a huge fan, personally. So when I heard that a special Teriyaki Bun was temporarily replacing the somehow-beloved Ukiwa Bun, I was ecstatic, and couldn’t wait to try it!

Teriyaki Chicken Bun – Â¥600 ($5.56)

I’m actually amazed at how expensive this bun is. One of Tokyo Disney Resort’s advantages is their fairly-reasonably priced food. So, the equivalent of $5.50 a bit steep compared to other snacks at the resort. At that point, you’re almost in domestic parks territory. Let’s see if they put their money where our mouth is!

It’s purple, I promise! The bun itself is presented well, featuring a lovely dark purple bun wrapped with lighter purple ribbons. As for the inside itself? As for the filling, there’s quite a generous portion! featuring nice, tender chicken bits mixed with delicious, sweet teriyaki sauce. You’d be surprised at how filling this is, akin to the (currently missing) gyoza dog. Moreover, I found this special edition to be an extreme improvement over normal ukiwa bun, mostly because the original is somewhat dry and not very shrimpy. The steep price is the only thing that could prevent me from highly recommending this treat compared to other Halloween treats. It’s delicious, but I’m not sure it’s Â¥600 delicious.

As always, isn’t the wrapper just darling? I like the “spooky Donald” vibe here, which contrasts to the cute “Donald in a life ring” design usually seen with the Ukiwa Bun. Someone find a good way for me to keep these!

Overall, you can’t go wrong with this one, despite its price! The bun is sweet and sticky, qne the filling is balanced and incredible! If you’re at Tokyo DisneySea, swallow your budget and give this a try! The Teriyaki Chicken Bun is available through October 31st at Seaside Snacks!
