It’s time for Disney Halloween at Tokyo Disney Resort! And one of my favorite parts of any Tokyo Disney Resort event is the array of snacks and food items available! In this series of reviews, I’ll be detailing every single new snack and counter-service item. Dockside Diner is the newest dining outlet at Tokyo DisneySea, and thus is still trying to find their flavor. Their signature dishes tend to revolve around gratin, which is rice and cheese generally mixed with something. In this case, they chose a spooky black curry and a meat patty! And to be honest, it works very well despite its simplicity! Let’s drop anchor and take a look!
Black Curry & Rice Gratin – ¥1360 ($12.62)
One of my biggest gripes with Dockside Diner is the digital menu. They don’t necessarily present a nice image of the food you’re about to consume. But, it’s new and there could’ve been worse cost cutting decisions! The set includes the entree, French fries, and a soft drink. It’s a fair (and fairly filling) deal at that price!
Don’t worry, the black around the sides isn’t burnt food! It’s just the black curry. The black curry plus the purple in the middle make for a spooky presentation that’s sure to please visually! As for the taste? I actually enjoyed this curry more than my meal at Casbah Food Court! It’s not all that spicy, but the taste was not overly sweet either. Combine that with the melty cheese and well-cooked meat patty, and you have a solid meal choice! Honestly, you don’t even need the french fries (or maybe even the drink) because this is so filling. There’s cheese, curry, rice, and a meat patty. That’s a lot of food, even for a hungry guy like me!
Overall, I absolutely recommend visiting Dockside Diner for this delicious Black Curry & Rice Gratin! I’ve so far been pleased with the flavors Dockside Diner has tried, and I hope they keep producing quality and filling meals like this in the future!
