Big changes are happening throughout Epcot, but if you look closely, even small ones are taking place throughout as areas––or neighborhoods, as they’ll soon be known–– transform along with the rest of the park. Over at Future World West, the Inventor’s Circle recently received a new coat of paint, and now, across the fountains by the Imagination! Pavilion are new, futuristic light poles have been installed. Let’s take a closer look.

You’ll notice a full row of them by the walkway, where the white steel and long beam lighting contrasts nicely with the Imagination! Pavilion in the background. These are also likely LEDs, so they’re more efficient and eco-friendly.

These light poles will offer diffused lighting through out the entire area, versus the short, squat light fixtures that were in place before.

Some of the older light fixtures are still in place (the short black painted ones.) These will gradually be replaced with the tall white fixtures over time.

You can see that the new light poles are being retrofitted into the existing electric bases.

What do you think of these new light poles? Are they a better fit for the new look of Epcot, or would you prefer we stuck with the older designs? Let us know in the comments below!

  1. We were just there this past weekend and we’re commenting on how dark the park was in some spots. Great news!

  2. i like them. but I am concerned about over lighting. one of the most attractive things about Epcot is the lighting at night. it is low lit which makes it so beautiful. What would be nice is that the lighting changes color every few minutes. like Cinderellas Castle. this has good potential.

  3. I actually prefer the look of the old black ones. The white ones stick out like a sore thumb and take away from the beauty of the Journey Pavilion.

  4. I would also speculate that they are multi-colored and controllable. Look for them to be incorporated into the EPCOT Forever and the post show.

Also with the external controls, the bottom third could be white to illuminate the sidewalk, while the top two thirds is color-changing. Fun stuff.
