REVIEW: Vegan Southwest Bowl Rolls into Fairfax Fare at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

It seems as though Hollywood Studios has some of the best vegan meals we’ve come across so far. On our quest to try and review some of the newest plant-based options, we ended up on Sunset Boulevard at Fairfax Fare. A vegan Southwest Bowl is on the menu, complete with the cute little leaf icon, and it sounded pretty good.

The bowl consists of savory rice, spicy “chili”, fire-roasted corn medley, pico de gallo, plant-based cheddar, and cilantro “ranch” with crispy tortilla chips for $11.29. We’ve been figuring out pretty quickly that all the chili in this park is actually vegan chili already, so the only thing in this bowl that seems to be unique is the vegan cheese and ranch. Since all the ingredients are pretty recognizable to me, this should be an easy one to compare.

This is a really great alternative that will probably appeal to a lot of people, not just vegans. The “cheese” seems to serve as more of a visual or textural component, and not so much for flavor. Either way, it’s really minor compared to all the other things happening in this bowl. The pico de gallo and corn were delicious with the chili, and corn chips are good on everything. You really need to dig deep to get to the rice at the bottom of the bowl, though. It’s a big portion, and very filling.

Every plant-based meal we’ve had so far at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has been a win, including this Southwest Bowl. If you’re looking for a good vegan meal before Fantasmic (or any time of the day), check out Fairfax Fare on Sunset Boulevard. Or, if you’re heading to Toy Story Land, save room and try the vegan “totchos” instead!

  1. Got this last week and it was so tasty! I splurged and got a side of guacamole and it hit the spot. Wish the guacamole was cheaper but, for the price it’s a really filling meal.
