Tips for Renting a Scooter at Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World is a big place – nearly 40 square miles! With so much space spread over four theme parks, two water parks, Disney Springs, more than two dozen resort hotels, and much more, getting around can be exhausting. Mobility devices like scooters can ensure that every member of your party is able to make the most of a trip to the Happiest Place on Earth.

If you or a friend or family member can benefit from using a scooter to get around, you have many options. You can rent scooters at each Disney theme park and at Disney Springs, or you can use a third-party scooter company that can provide additional flexibility at a lower cost than renting from the mouse.

If you are looking for electric scooter rentals near Disney World; Scootarama has been serving guests at the Walt Disney World Resort since 2003. While Disney recently limited its Featured Provider program a.k.a. (Disney approved scooter rentals) to only one company, you still use other third-party scooter rental companies!

Why Use an Outside Scooter Company?

Walt Disney World has a great reputation for accommodating guests with disabilities and limitations. However, their options don’t always come at the best price, or allow the most flexibility. Outside vendors can provide the same or better service at a lower price.

Flexibility: Scooter rentals in Disney are only available on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations are not allowed, and selection is limited. Disney World scooter rentals may not be removed from the destination where they were rented. While daily rentals are transferrable to each park and Disney Springs, you must return the scooter when you leave each location and then wait in line again at your next destination.

When you rent from an outside vendor, the scooter is yours to use 24/7 from the time of delivery to the time of pickup!

Quality and Service: Scootarama scooters are made in America by Pride Mobility. Our batteries last longer than factory-installed batteries because we remove all manufacturer batteries and replace them with batteries manufactured by industry leader MK Battery. If you encounter any mechanical issues with your equipment, Scootarama will come to the rescue! All of our drivers are Annual Passholders, so they can come into the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios to replace or repair your scooter.

Price: Not only can a third-party vendor offer added flexibility and service, they can provide it at a lower price. The chart below shows the difference in cost between renting from the mouse versus renting from Scootarama.

Another perk is that Scootarama is owned by a disabled veteran. They offer a year-round 20% discount with proof of service (the name on the credit card used for the rental must match the name of the veteran).

Rent Before You Travel for Convenience and Piece of Mind

Disney does not offer reservations to rent scooters in the parks or at Disney Springs. You must go to the location, wait in line, and hope for the best in terms of availability and options.

When you rent from Scootarama, you can rent your scooter before you even arrive in Orlando! Choose from several different options based on your needs, and Scootarama will deliver your scooter to your resort in time for your arrival.

Scootarama is permitted to deliver to guest at ALL Disney-owned hotels and resorts. If you are staying at Shades of Green, the Swan and Dolphin Resort, Disney Springs Hotels, or any Bonnett Creek Resort, we are able to leave your scooter at bell services so it is waiting for you when you arrive.

At any other Disney resort, you get to choose the time of your delivery – no “one time fits all” policy at Scootarama! Most guests on domestic flights usually schedule a delivery time of two hours after their expected flight arrival – this gives them time to exit the plane and proceed to the Magical Express shuttle to whisk them to their resorts. Guests on international flights usually schedule their rental 3 hours after their expected arrival time to give them time to go through customs.

Scootarama also picks up your scooter at the end of your magical vacation. Most guests on domestic flights schedule the pick-up time 3 hours before their flight departs. Guests on international flights schedule 4 hours prior to flight departure.

Plus, pickups and deliveries are flexible! If your flight is delayed we can extend the delivery or pickup times at no additional cost. Our warehouse is less than 15 minutes away from Disney property and we always have a driver on property between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. We are only a phone call away!

  1. I took my mom to WDW 4 times and convinced her to rent a scooter outsourced. Set some ground rules on her. Made her park the scooter outside to use the ladies room, sit with us at the table, etc. During the year 2014-2015 the price was $50/day inside the parks, would say $70 on the credit card. Outside company about $30/day.
