Good morning from a beautiful hot November day here at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The park is getting ready for a great holiday season this year and has started to put up most of the Christmas decor already. Let’s take a trip and check it out.
As soon as we get to the park, we notice tons of decoration around the entrance.
Our first stop of the morning took us towards Pandora, but not for the same reasons as most of the crowd making their way into the land. This sea of people is heading for the attractions while we make our way right to Pongu Pongu to check out the brand new holiday decorations.
They might seem subtle at first, but they’re very detailed. The carved wooden animals strung above windtraders might be our favorite part. You can check out more photos and a video tour of the Pandora Christmas decorations here, but stay tuned because we hear more is coming!
As we make our way into Africa, we are greeted by colorful decorations hung over Harambe Village. Wreaths and trees made of recycled items, like bike tires and bottle caps, line the windows and pathways in the area.
The small stage in Asia where Bollywood Beats performs has also received some colorful new decor. The peacock looks great.
Dinoland is also ready for Christmas! The Olden Gate Bridge Dinosaur skeleton at the entrance is covered in Christmas lights and even has a Santa beard and hat.
Inside the land, more garland, wreaths, and lights can be found. There are even decorations near the character meet and greets. Daisy, Scrooge, Chip and Dale, Launchpad, Goofy, and Donald all have themed trees and garland hung around their areas.
Animal lanterns line the rooftops along Discovery Trading Company and Island Mercantile.
We stopped into Discovery Trading Company for the new weekly pin trading “Pin Thursdays” event, only to be disappointed. The event is one Cast Member with a pin board, which really isn’t that special compared to the normal pin trading boards in the gift shops. There were new hidden Mickey pins, but we can only hope this event grows as time goes by.
Three new limited edition pins were also released at Discovery Trading Company. The newest Vintage Vinyls pin released featuring the Aristocats, and two new Star Wars pins are also available. They’re $17.99 each.
This holiday gift card might be perfect for someone who loves Disney but already has everything (like me).
That’s about it for today. Thanks for following us around and stay tuned for more holiday updates from Disney’s Animal Kingdom and beyond.
Any more updates on “Pin Thursdays” now that we’re a few weeks in?
