The holiday season has reached the far edges of the galaxy, and even Space Mountain is getting in on the yuletide fun. The beloved attraction has been gifted a holiday overlay exclusively for this year’s Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. The ride promises “a trippy jaunt through the cosmos, filled with dazzling lighting and high-energy holiday tunes.” And we have pictures and video of our intergalactic sleigh ride!

The overlay features rocking Christmas tunes with rock concert-style lighting. We found it to be really fun, and a welcome addition to the attraction!

Of course, if you want the full experience (minus the whole actually moving part), be sure to check out our video below!

  1. Just so sad that Disney only does this for people that pay $$$ and not everyone. This should not just be for the Christmas party but for all. True money gab, that’s the Disney way now, sad!

    • That’s a very good point Jack. We’ll start offering it to all guests and then raise daily ticket prices by $15 to offset the cost, but then never lower it after the holidays. You’re a genius Jack, thank you!

      • I don’t think it costs them anything to turn on some different lights/projections on Space Mountain for all guests to enjoy during the holidays nor would they need to charge an extra $15 per day just so people could see Space Mountain not pitch black. It would be nice for everyone to get to experience it like Ghost Galaxy or Hyperspace Mountain, which I don’t recall you having to lay down an extra $100 for a party for.

  2. Do you know the name of the group/person who recorded the Christmas overlay music? My son would love to buy it. Thanks.
