As part of the transformation of EPCOT, the park will be broken down into four new “neighborhoods”. Inside World Discovery, you will find the new Play Pavilion with new interactive experiences full of character. We got a look at some of the concept art during D23, as well as an idea of what’s coming to the new pavilion. Let’s take a look at the current construction.
More land has been cleared. The area that was once full of foliage has been made barren and looks like it’s been turned into a path to bring equipment and machinery in and out. The blue Walt Disney Imagineering building can be seen from the monorail now. The path up towards the entrance of the old Wonders of Life pavilion is still intact for now, as are the original railings.
You can see the pathway to Mission: Space is bustling with guests, but there is a lot happening behind the walls.
This new pavilion is scheduled to open in 2021 for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary (as long as they don’t encounter any delays along the way). For another look at this reimagined EPCOT, check out The EPCOT Experience and be sure to keep following for more updates.
